High school is one of the most significant phases in a student’s life. It plays a crucial role in shaping their academic and future career paths. However, it should not be treated as an unbearable burden. Excessive stress and constant worry can lead to undesirable outcomes.
While high school is a crucial stage, it is merely part of a long educational journey. There’s no need to worry about future jobs or career paths immediately after graduation. Your role as a student is to work hard and give your best effort, believing that the results are in God’s hands.
Remember, success is not solely measured by grades but also by the skills and experiences you acquire during this stage. Focus on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as they will benefit you for life.
General Tips 🔰
Focus on All Subjects
Every subject is important for your success, so don’t ignore any, even the ones that seem easier or less important. They all add to your learning and can teach you useful skills.
Organize Study Time
To stay organized, make a daily list of what you need to study and what you want to achieve in each session. This will help you stay on track and make steady progress in all your subjects.
Avoid Procrastinating
If you procrastinate a lot, start by breaking the task into smaller tasks. Pick one thing to do and work on it for just 10 minutes. Once you start, it’ll feel easier to keep going. Also, remove distractions like your phone and focus on one task at a time; don’t multitask. Reward yourself when you finish. Doing something is better than doing nothing.
Improve English Skills
Improving your skills in any subject, especially languages, requires daily effort and consistency. For English, try learning new words every day and revising basic grammar using reliable books. Write two essays each week on different topics in a dedicated notebook and have them reviewed by someone proficient in English, like your teacher.
To improve listening skills, engage with English audio materials, such as IELTS practice audio. You can also make learning fun by watching educational movies or series in English with subtitles, which helps build vocabulary and listening skills naturally. My Study Schedule 📆
Here I am going to share with you my plan to revise for this year:
During The ordinary School Days
After the Asr prayer, I plan my entire day, prioritizing the subjects I need to study based on their importance.
I start with the most challenging subjects, like physics and math, and finish with the easier ones, such as Arabic. I review the lessons covered that day and solve 3–4 questions for practice.
By 9:00 p.m., or at 9:30 p.m. maximum, whether I finish or not, I stop studying to give my brain and body the rest they need. Overloading yourself isn’t productive. I went to the hospital 3 times because of that, so I know it better than anyone else😂.
On weekends, I wake up at 7:00 a.m. and focus on solving more questions across all subjects until Maghrib prayer. Afterward, I take time to relax before going to bed at 10:00 p.m.
During The Exams Days
Sixty days before the semester’s final exams begin, I start planning my revision schedule. I review the topics for each subject and estimate the total number of days needed for preparation. For example, I allocate six days to cover math, five days for Arabic, and so on. Once I determine the required days, I add an extra 1–2 days per subject to account for unexpected situations such as illness, family gatherings, short quizzes, or other emergencies. Additionally, I leave two days free before the first exam as a buffer since the exam schedule is not always finalized in advance.
I prioritize the subjects based on their difficulty. For instance, I begin with an easier subject like Arabic, then move on to math, followed by Islamic studies, physics, English, and so on. Starting with an easier subject helps me ease into the study routine when I’m not yet fully in the mood for intense revision.
Before tackling each subject, I create a detailed plan outlining the specific topics to be covered within the allocated days. Once I’ve studied a day’s topics, I practice by solving questions related to those topics. Typically, I use previous years’ final exam papers—excluding the most recent three years (more on this later). Despite preparing for finals, I always stop studying by 9 p.m. to avoid burnout.
Why do I skip solving exams from the last three years? I save those for the two nights leading up to the actual final exam. During those nights, I first review the topics for the subject, as I’ve already covered them in the 60-day plan. This usually takes me until Maghrib prayer. After the prayer, I focus on solving the last three years’ final exams, starting with the first session.
Once I complete the exams, I correct them with a strict eye, ensuring I identify every mistake. Afterward, I analyze my errors to understand where I went wrong and how to avoid repeating those mistakes in the actual exam.
This method helps me approach finals with confidence, knowing I’ve thoroughly prepared and addressed any gaps in my understanding.
The following file is my revision table template for the finals.
Tips for a Balanced Life 🌞
Physical Activities
Dedicate at least 30 minutes per day for sport. Exercise improves your mood and energy levels. Exercise means any sport like walking, running, football, etc.
Social Interaction
Don’t neglect social relationships, even if you are busy. Spend quality time with friends and family to relieve academic pressure.
Sleep Well
Sleep early and get 7-8 hours of rest, as sleep significantly affects memory and focus. I used to stay up for a long time—up to 5 or 6 a.m.—but I gained nothing. You will destroy the next day, lose your concentration, and maybe gain extra weight.
Ignore social Media
Today, the new generation has more pressure compared with the previous generations, and the reason for that is social media. You will see a lot of people making money and having businesses at your age. Also, they say that what you are doing is trash. Don’t listen to them, and keep working hard. I will specify a whole post to talk about them later.
Take Breaks
It is great to take breaks from time to time. If you feel that you are tired and cannot focus anymore, just leave everything for a while, get some fresh air, meet your friends, watch your favorite shows, and come back stronger.
Believe in God
It is NOT THE END OF THE WORLD if you didn’t reach the marks you were aiming for. Work hard, believe in God, stay focused, be consistent, and God will give you the results you want. Sometimes, God destroys our plans when He sees that our plans will destroy us.
Wish you all the best guys 🤍
